The Soto 40 is the world’s most popular new ‘fast’ 40 foot OD racing yacht. The Soto 40 Euro Championships, VTR Oceanica, Punta del Este, the Mitsubishi Sailing Cup, South American Soto 40 Cup - all showcasing the Soto 40 as the fastest growing 40 foot OD class in the world.
Designed by Javier Soto Acebal, the Soto 40 is an affordable solution to the ongoing handicap debacle. Every Soto 40 is identical (except for your choice of steering and colour schemes) so, first across the line wins.
Simple.
What started in South America as a solution to the never-ending madness of handicap racing is now reaching into every corner of the globe. There are Soto 40s in nine countries and more on the way - 33 now launched. Not a bad achievement in just over two short years for a niche one design class.
Bang for buck there is nothing that even comes close - performance, affordability, proven reliability. We are proud of the team we have behind the project; it’s not just about the boat. The Management Group have a tight set of One Design Rules that have guided the Class since Soto 40 #1. Every part of the process from the builder to the commissioning team to the Secretariat for the Class, the Race Management for Class events, marketing - the whole team work together to provide the most satisfying one design experience in a 40 footer anywhere in the world.
